Built for macOS

At home on the Mac.

Native on Apple Silicon and Intel, with your credentials in the macOS Keychain.

Integrates with macOS Keychain

Credentials are encrypted with AES-GCM and stored in the macOS Keychain - the same vault used by Safari and iCloud. Nothing leaves your device.

Built with Tauri, not Electron

Termique is a native macOS app. Cold start under 2 seconds, ~80 MB memory footprint. Not a browser wrapped in an app shell.

Apple Silicon native

The arm64 binary runs natively on M1, M2, M3, and M4 chips. No Rosetta translation, no performance penalty.

A real alternative to PuTTY on Mac

There is no official PuTTY for macOS, so Mac users usually end up with the bare ssh command and a password manager. Termique gives you the host list, the credential vault and the file transfer in one window.

FAQ

SSH on macOS, answered.

Is there a free SSH client for Mac?

Yes. Termique is free to download and the free tier includes three hosts, unlimited sessions, SFTP and SSH key management. macOS also ships the ssh command built in, which is free but has no host list or credential storage.

Does Termique run natively on Apple Silicon?

Yes, there is an arm64 build for M1, M2, M3 and M4. It is a Tauri app on a Rust backend rather than Electron, so it uses the system webview instead of bundling Chromium.

Is there a PuTTY for Mac?

Not officially. PuTTY is a Windows program; the Homebrew port exists but is rarely used. On macOS the usual path is the built-in ssh command, and Termique is what people add on top of it when they need saved hosts and stored credentials.

Where are my SSH passwords stored on macOS?

They are encrypted with AES-GCM using a key derived from your master password on your device, then written to the macOS Keychain. The plaintext never touches the disk and the sync server only ever holds ciphertext.

Will it read my existing ~/.ssh/config?

Yes, on first launch. Your Host blocks, hostnames, ports, usernames and IdentityFile entries come across, and the file stays where it is - Termique does not take it over.
